Emerging Markets Art specialises in contemporary painting, photography and sculpture from emerging markets. We are a London art gallery and portal specialising in art from emerging markets such as South Africa, China, India, Brazil, Russia and Korea. We focus on artists with emerging markets backgrounds and present their work to a UK and international audience.

In an increasingly global art market, several established and new young artists from 'emerging markets' have not had the opportunity to show their work internationally. These highly dynamic, problematic, and diverse societies continue to inspire very original and compelling artists.

This website involves the collaboration of several specialists in different geographies.

The founder, Simon Mee, was born in Johannesburg and grew up in South Africa. He has a Masters in Arts and a Masters in Philosophy from Oxford University where he studied what drives value for art objects. His work focussed on the aesthetic, functional, symbolic and commercial values of tribal and contemporary art. He later studied modern and contemporary art at Christies Education. He has worked in the Post War and Contemporary Art and Business Development Departments at Christie's Auction House. He established his art consulting and dealing business in 2001 called Simon Mee Fine Art. He has written and lectured on contemporary South African art. In 2007, Simon Mee Fine Art merged with Emerging Markets Art.
